20 Jun 4 ways to know it’s time to leave your job
Sometimes the reason you should be leaving your job is related to your personal development and growth, or your personal well-being.
Other times it is related to external influences such as the team or work culture.
Here are a few ways to know if it might be the right time to move on.
You don’t feel challenged
A challenging career pushes you to be:
- better
- reach your full potential
- encourages you to expect more from yourself
Are you in a career and workplace that allows you to feel challenged?
If you start to feel stagnant in your job, you may have outgrown your position.
You are permanently stressed
Stress from the workplace is to be expected no matter what job you have or where you work.
When that stress moves beyond being pressure at work to meet a deadline and instead comes home with you, it may be that you are experiencing an unhealthy level of stress from your work.
In this case, it may be in your best interest from a health and wellness perspective to move on and seek alternative employment.
You don’t enjoy it
You need to enjoy going to work every day.
There will always be some days that are hard or that you don’t want to be there.
You may have bad days at work, but on the whole, when you think of your job and think about getting up every day to go to work, it should get you excited.
You don’t feel valued
In your job, you should feel like you are a valuable and important member of the team.
You should feel as if your work matters and that people in your workplace care about you as a person and what you have to contribute.
When this stops being the case, it may be time to reconsider your role and position in the company.
