Is Working with a Recruiter Right for You?

Is Working with a Recruiter Right for You?

The job hunt can be an overwhelming and daunting experience. Regardless if you have a substantial amount of experience behind you or you are starting, it can be difficult to find a job that you love and are perfect to fill.

When working with a recruiter, you have someone who can make the entire process less stressful. A recruiter’s job is to make a connection between an applicant and a company. They are hired by a company to find the right candidates to fill open positions — they do not find jobs for people.

Why should you work with a recruiter? Is it the right choice for you? Here are a few reasons why you should consider working with this professional.

Tell You About Unposted Jobs

At least 70% of job openings are never advertised. Rather, they are filled via networking.  When you work with a recruiter, they can make you aware of many of these job openings that are not advertised. This not only gives you more opportunities to find the perfect job but it prevents relying solely on job boards.

You Can Save Time

The job search is a time-consuming process. If working on your own, it can take a considerable amount of time to find the jobs you are interested in, fill out applications, etc. When working with recruiters, they can direct you to job openings where you would be an excellent fit. They also keep your resume on file, saving you time from tweaking and submitting this document for each job you apply for within a company.

They Provide Constant Feedback and Advice

When searching for the perfect job, you want to make a strong impression. You want to appear confident, interview well, showcase your strengths, etc. A recruiter can provide advice and guidance when applying for certain positions. They likely know what certain companies are looking for and how you can show them that you are the ideal fit.

If you are not offered a certain position, it can be discouraging and frustrating. However, when you work with a recruiter, they can provide feedback regarding what you could do better, why the company chose another candidate, etc.

You Have a Specialized Skill Set

There are some industries where finding the right job can be challenging. For example, if you work in a field where there are numerous open positions, it can be hard to determine which job will be the right fit for you. You may also have very specific skills and experience. You do not want these wasted and you want to find companies that can actually benefit from these skills. When working with a recruiter, he or she will take into consideration all that you have to offer to find the perfect job.

While a recruiter may not be ideal for everyone, there are many reasons you should consider working with one. The right individual will help you find a job you love and companies will find the ideal candidate for their open positions, creating a win-win situation for everyone.
